About the Position:  


The mission of the HR office is: Developing and retaining high-quality employees at every stage of their career from hire to retire. The vision is: There will be an effective staff member in every department, school, and classroom because the best people will bring forth the best results for our students and for our District to become the best school system in our State. The Recruitment and Retention Manager is an important part of supporting the mission and vision of the HR team. The Recruitment and Retention Manager is responsible for recruitment of candidates for employment, with a focus on increasing diversity, while ensuring compliance with District contracts, policies, and procedures as well as applicable state and federal laws and regulations. Successful candidates will have the skill set to create, analyze, and maintain data reports to track recruitment and retention activities in order to make strategic decisions to improve recruitment and retention efforts in the district. This position is a critical part of the HR Team who all work very closely together. Advancement opportunities are available in this role.

 

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Recruitment

  • Develop, plan, and implement recruiting activities designed to enhance the District’s ability to attract and retain a diverse, high-performing workforce, with a focus on recruiting qualified professional teaching and support candidates.
  • Develop and maintain a network of contacts to help identify and source qualified candidates.
  • Coordinate and participate in recruitment fairs to selected colleges and universities, job fairs, and other related events.
  • Develop recruitment programs, brochures, videos, displays and other related material.
  • Write and place recruitment information and position advertisements in various media outlets.
  • Develop and maintain a positive relationship with the business community in an effort to develop and enhance recruiting programs and strategies.
  • Establish recruitment and retention plans for diverse staff members, critical shortage areas, and high needs schools.
  • Maintain and analyze recruitment and retention data and use data to develop a comprehensive recruitment plan.
  • Manage grants related to recruitment, retention, and diversification programs
  • Explore social media options for additional recruiting activities.
  • Maintain accurate recruiting, hiring, and onboarding data.
  • Support with anticipated vacancies and develop plans to meet those needs within staffing and budgetary guidelines.

Retention

  • Support with the New Teacher Academy (NTA) and Teacher Pathway Program (TPP) by working collaboratively with the New Teacher Developer and Teacher Pathways Manager. 
  • Support with professional development (PD) for NTA, TPP, and additional PD opportunities for staff to support retention efforts.
  • Support with New Educator Orientation (NEO) and the mentoring program, in coordination with the New Teacher Developer. 
  • Coordinate events for staff to connect with others across the District to develop strong ties to the CPS community.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with the equity office to support our strategic initiatives, such as affinity groups and gatherings. 
  • Work closely with Principals and Administrators to support retention ideas and efforts.
  • Managing exit surveys and interviews in order to develop strategies for enhancing staff retention

Operations

  • Supporting the Operations Team with posting and managing all district postings on TalentEd site, and onboarding all new educator hires for the district during peak hiring times.
  • Supporting with all vacancy, hiring, and onboarding data to ensure all positions are posted and hires are processed in a timely manner.
  • Troubleshooting issues and creating improvements with TalentEd as needed.
  • Communicating with District staff members regarding personnel matters.
  • Up to 25% travel may be required to support recruiting activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications Required

  • Driven and energized by the knowledge that he/she is helping build a diverse workforce to better serve our students, families, and communities.
  • Strong people skills and the ability to successfully collaborate with teams and various stakeholders.
  • A minimum of 2-4 years of experience in the following areas:
    • Demonstrated experience and results achieved in recruitment, hiring, and retention strategies and programs
    • Excellent organization, time management, and follow-through; high sense of urgency
    • Demonstrated ability to successfully balance multiple projects concurrently and work independently.
    • Outstanding problem-solving and critical thinking skills and desire to use data to drive decision-making
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including strong presentation and excel skills.
    • Ability to develop systems that achieve efficiency, scalability, and duration.
    • Ability to learn quickly and to be effective and take initiative in a fast-paced, dynamic, ambitious environment.
    • Demonstrated experience utilizing applicant tracking platforms
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Willingness and ability to travel
  • Citizenship, residency or work visa required

Qualifications Preferred:

  • Experience using TalentEd
  • Bilingual Spanish
  • Advanced excel and data management skills

Salary: Compensation is commensurate with experience.

 

Terms: This position allows for flexible working hours, full time position (40 hours/week). Most days will be working off-site. This will be a non-bargaining unit position and is eligible for benefits. Salary will be determined by work experience and education level.
